Privacy policy

Your log is personal. This policy explains how Momentum Apps, LLC handles information when you use Log Out Loud and this website.

What stays on your device

Speech recognition runs on your device using Apple’s speech technology. We do not upload microphone recordings to our servers or to OpenAI. The app stores your logs, profile, goals, and preferences on your device. If iCloud is available, logs and selected preferences sync using Apple’s private CloudKit database and iCloud key-value storage associated with your Apple Account.

When you submit a voice log

The text you submit, your preferred weight unit when relevant, and the resulting estimates are processed through our Cloudflare service and OpenAI’s API to identify meals, water, or weight. Text may contain health-related information, such as your weight or eating habits. Only include information you want processed for this purpose. We do not send your full profile, Apple Health records, or entire log history to OpenAI as part of a logging request.

Our service does not intentionally save log transcripts or AI responses in a server database. We request that OpenAI not store response objects. OpenAI may retain API content for abuse monitoring, generally for up to 30 days, subject to its policies and legal obligations. API content is not used to train OpenAI models by default. Apple Health is optional

With your permission, the app reads active energy from Apple Health to show activity and adjust calories remaining. These records are not sent to OpenAI. We do not use Health data for advertising, sell it, or share it with data brokers. You can change access in Apple Health or your device’s privacy settings at any time.

Purchases and service protection

Apple processes subscriptions and payments. We receive subscription status and signed transaction information, not your payment card details. Our Cloudflare service uses Apple App Attest device identifiers, public keys, verification counters, subscription transaction identifiers, and request counts to verify legitimate requests and enforce usage limits. Network providers also process information such as IP addresses and request timing for delivery, security, and abuse prevention.

Support and website visits

If you email support@momentumapps.org, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include. Avoid sending unnecessary health details. The website does not use advertising trackers or marketing analytics. Hosting providers process ordinary connection and security information to serve the pages. The interactive example runs in your browser and does not record audio.

Who processes information

Apple provides speech, HealthKit, CloudKit, purchases, and device verification. Cloudflare operates the logging service infrastructure. OpenAI interprets submitted text. Our website hosting and email providers process traffic and correspondence needed to operate those services. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where providers operate.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

Logs remain on your device and, when syncing is enabled, in your private iCloud storage until you delete them. Deleting an entry in the app propagates to connected devices when syncing completes. Uninstalling alone may not remove iCloud data. You can manage the app’s iCloud storage through Apple’s settings. Device verification and subscription abuse-prevention records can remain while needed to operate and protect the service; they do not contain your meal history.

You can decline microphone or Health permissions, stop submitting text, cancel your subscription through Apple, and contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information we control. We may need to verify a request, and certain records may be retained for security or legal reasons. Canceling a subscription does not itself delete data, and deleting data does not cancel a subscription. Rights vary by location.

No ads or sale of health data

We do not sell personal information, use health data for targeted advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising.

Age and changes

Log Out Loud’s calorie-planning features are intended for adults. The service is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. We may update this policy as the service changes and will update the date above.
